There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Samba de Janeiro – Bellini
Today we are looking at a single that was a debut track from a German Eurodance group that did really well in the charts internationally.
On the 5th May 1997, Bellini released the single Samba de Janeiro. It was produced by Gottfried Engels and Romon Zenker and released on the record labels of Orbit and Virgin. It won best dance single at the Echo Awards.
The song may sound familiar as it samples Tombo in 7/4 by Air to Moreira and Celebration Suite by Gottfried Engels and Romon Zenker.
The song did really well in the charts and went into the top 10 in many countries including Austria (3), Denmark (8), France (3), Ireland (6) and Switzerland (2) to name a few. In the United Kingdom, it went to number 8 in the top 40, number 12 in the UK Dance chart and number 1 in the UK indie charts. In the UK it became certified silver.
