Today’s Featured Liverpool Improv Festival Act – INTERVIEW –  Aunt Batty Knows…

All this month we are talking to acts that are performing at the Liverpool Improv Festival which takes place between May 7th – 10th. We will be speaking to acts every Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30pm on the run up to the festival. Today we speak to Aunt Batty Knows…

Tell Us about:

Your latest improv show you are bringing to Liverpool Improv Fest ?

Tales from the Armchair is an all woman show, exploring the realm of the uncanny through, at times, an absurd lens.

Your favourite suggestion you have been given?

A care home for 50 year olds, very dystopian!

Your favourite venue to perform at:

The Unity has it all, community, ethics, beautiful building, stage space, incredible tech and fabulous people who work there.

Improv hero:

A mixture of Julia Davis and Rob Brydon. We love how Julia uses improv at every stage of her writing process and has done so since she started. We love her dark sense of humour and the work she did with Rob on Human Remains, dark, dar and hilarious!

Dream venue to play at:

Anywhere weird and unusual, where an audience gathers there we be!

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Pregnant with possibility and a little healthy fear.

The hardest improv suggestion to perform and why:

Besides people punching down to be edgy, I’m not sure there is a hard improv suggestion, as we are in charge of how we take that idea and make sense of it to the audience.

Essential items you always take with you to a show?

Water, snacks, sense of humour and a hammer.

Describe your fans in three words:

Yet to be…

What we can look forward to from you this year:

A story and characters that will provide you with a sense of the unusual.
