Taste Of States – This Week – Cheeseburger Meatloaf Panini

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

CHEESEBURGER MEATLOAF PANINI

Today we are heading to the North Carolina Potato Festival to take a look at a creation that was produced by Sidney’s Cafe and Bistro. Welcome to the world of the cheeseburger Meatloaf Panini Sandwich – a mouthful to say, a mouthful to eat.

The base of the sandwich is created with meat mixed with ketchup and mustard, seasoned with spices, salt, pepper, onions, garlic and worcestershire sauce, egg mayo and apple wood smoked bacon is then added to the mixture. Finally, the last set of ingredients to be added include breadcrumbs, fried onion and sharp cheddar to bring in the burger element.

Once all the ingredients are added together, they are mixed carefully together and made into burger patties. They are finally covered with ketchup then baked in the oven for thirty minutes. To finish off the festival delight mustard and ketchup are put onto sourdough bread with the cooked meatloaf and topped with provolone cheese. It is placed in a panini press for five minutes.

The product was praised for how much it tasted like a cheeseburger and meatloaf at the same time.
