Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Stop Codon is like an off switch for your DNA. In the song, Stop Codon is a metaphor for cutting off bad habits, toxic thought patterns, and exercising free will. My bass player threw me a killer riff and the song came together in one late-night jam session.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
“Ask a punk about the weight of the world”
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
Sell Yr Love, from our upcoming EP. We went out of our comfort zone as a punk trio to record violins, synths, extra percussion, and multiple guitars. It was a really fun process building the track.
Your favourite song to play live:
Pathological Liar, off our Mirrors EP. Every time we play it is cathartic. It’s an example of how art can take the worst and make it the best.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Cut & Paste, from our album Fashion Show. I had the chorus for years, but couldn’t get the verses right until certain events caused new feelings to bubble to the surface. My drummer had the brilliant idea of turning it into a disco groove
Your most emotional track:
I channeled a lot of anger into Grrrl on Guitar, from our upcoming EP. It’s powerful to know that I’m among the women who are willing to show up and put in the work.
Dream collaboration:
Iggy Pop.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Like I finally get to be myself.
The hardest track to play live:
No Vision, from our most recent EP Looking forward to the moment, is a fast song with a lot of disparate elements. We usually end our set with this track. It’s really rewarding when we crush it.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Black nail polish, mouthwash, and a killer playlist.
Describe your fans in three words:
Smart, pretty, and fun.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
I don’t really operate like that. It’s all about the songs I haven’t written yet.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
