Sunday Book Club: Over Sharing, Jane Fallon

Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book about social media and the levels people go to.

Over Sharing (2023)

Jane Fallon

Synopsis

If you can’t have the perfect life, why should she?

Social influencer Maddy’s life is picture perfect. Wholesome videos of her husband and twin girls project the happiest of families. And court the fame she so clearly craves.

Iris knows Maddy as the woman who broke up her marriage. Her whole world was turned upside down and she can’t bear the hypocrisy.

But there’s one thing that might bring back Iris’s happiness. Taking away Maddy’s…

Revenge, however, is best served up close and personal. Iris needs to get to know Maddy. Which is when things get very messy indeed.

Jane Fallon’s whip-smart new novel explores the murky truths behind the versions of ourselves we project online, the lengths we go to when we feel we’ve been wronged, and the often unlikely places we find true friendship.

Positive Points

This book is based around interesting subject and it also can show just how scary it is to have all your information online and how easily a stranger can find you in real life and access it. It is a book that has a story that highlights these problems.

Negative Points

It is a good subject but personally I found this a bad book. There are so many good books by Jane Fallon but I didn’t find this one of them. There are many sections of it that feel uncomfortable and it makes it difficult to read.

Overall Review

This book is based around an interesting topic but it feels weird to read as it makes you uncomfortable. It is not one of Janes best books but if you want to read something a bit different you may be interested.
