Welcome to a feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to Thunderor about the new album Bleed For It.
Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!
Hey we’re Thunderor, we’re a hard rock / heavy metal band from Toronto.
Tell us about the new album
It’s called Bleed For It and it’s out on April 17. It’s a bit of a concept album as it’s the soundtrack for the musical we did (Thunderor the Musical) which tells a story of adventure and romance in the face of mortality, hearkening back to the glory days of arena rock, wild and restless, as a young group of would-be rockers head out on an impromptu adventure in a time of danger and hope.
Favourite track in new album and why?
I’d have to say Bleed For It as it’s the whole theme of the story and album. The need to bleed for something that you desire.
Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?
It’s a ton of work, but we enjoy it. We tracked all of the instruments ourselves and then brought it to Chris Snow to mix and make them sound polished.
What inspired the album name?
It’s from the title track Bleed For It. Again, the whole theme thing.
Tell us the idea behind the album cover?
The cover art is a collage of different scenes from the story of ‘Thunderor the Musical’. So you can see the different characters and key moments of the story. I was inspired by movie poster art and wanted to do something in that vibe.
What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
I’d say In The Fire O’ The Heat. There’s a lot going on, especially if we want to do it with the DreamQuest intro, which is how it was intended. I’m not sure if we’ll do that one live just yet.
Why should people listen to the album?
For the songs! There’s no shortage of hooks if you like those. It’s a pretty feel-good album, and hopefully will inspire you to go ahead with an adventure you’ve been thinking about or to chase a dream.
