Taste Of States – This Week – Glazed Donut Sloppy Joe

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

GLAZED DONUT SLOPPY JOE

Today we are heading to the State Fair to take a look at a really decadent snack. You have probably heard of a donut burger before but have you heard of a donut Sloppy Joe?

The idea of the Glazed Donut Sloppy Joe was created by Chicken Charlies. It starts with ground beef, onions, sloppy joe mix, peppers, mixed in a pan with garlic, paprika and black pepper. You let it cook down so that all the flavours embrace one another.

When the mixture is cooked, you fill a glazed donut that has been cut in half with the sloppy joe mixture. It is then topped with cheese and tomatoes to finish it off.

Some people find the Sloppy Joe Donut a real mixture of savoury and sweet, whilst others find that it is too rich and unappealing.
