Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Hey Phoenix Remix, thanks for having us!
‘Tannen’s World’ is a memory and a reminder of the corruption of capitalism, and a scream for freedom. For the Back to the Future fans among you, the song is also a mockery of the Biff Tannen’s of the world – you know who!
Your favourite lyric in this song:
Come to my neighbourhood, oh my man’s up to no good
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
Vic: Out for the World. From the moment I heard the first guitar chords, I knew it would be one of my favorite songs on the album.
John: “Let’s make it rock tonight” because its an 80’s rock classic song and its a memory of my childhood first steps in music.
Santi: Breakfast For Millionaires – from our first album “Tales From The Bottle”. It carries a lot of the weight of what we want to say about the state of the world, our fears about an environment that has become drenched in greed and avarice. We shot a music video in the dessert for it.
Your favourite song to play live:
Santi: from our songs “Barbarella” is a fun little tune, though I love playing our rendition of the Ramones’ “Poison Heart” live
John: all the songs we play, covers and whisky Sugar songs.
Vic: From our songs, Charlie Watts it’s a lot of fun to play alive. Of the covers we play, I love Dancing with myself by the Billy Idol.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
“Lost The Fight” was actually the first song that Rai and John wrote for the band, but it was one of the longest to finish writing lyrics for – we guess it’s because its themes are rather weighty and difficult to vocalize in a simple sort of way.
Your most emotional track:
“Every Time I Look At You” might be one of them. It’s a story from one of Rai’s past relationships. Something a little nostalgic and a little mournful, but with a garage sound that evokes an early 2000s era.
Dream collaboration:
Santi: I’d love to pull off a dessert rock tune with the Queens of the Stone Age John: Play on a festival full of rock legends.
Vic: I would love to be able to play with AC/DC.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Santi: I’ve played open mic’s since I was 17 (shout out to the Druid’s Arms and other pubs in Brighton), so it’s not stage fright, it’s more feeling the audience’s vibes on that evening.
John: Its a feeling you got , when monsters come…..
Vic: A feeling os nervousness in the stomach that gives way to a rush when the first chords of the concert begin to play.
The hardest track to play live:
Santi: Charlie Watts – I get emotional about one of our heroes
John: our music its made it by the rule of primitive rock, more simple more fun.
Vic: Breakfast for Millionaires – The fast tempo means you can´t get distracted at any point.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Santi: underpants
John: picks
Vic: Drumsticks, water bottle and my concert shoes.
Describe your fans in three words:
Santi: Awesome. Every. Time.
John: love you all.
Vic: Amazing rocker friends.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Santi: Come As You Are (Nirvana). First song I learnt on guitar and still feels like a right of passage of sorts.
John: Heroes by David Bowie, its a world wide anthem with a great message for all mankind, a statement of freedom and love.
Vic: I would choose The Show Must Go On because it represents the strength to keep going no matter what. It carries a huge emotional weight and an epic feeling that perfectly captures what it means to step on stage and give everything you’ve got.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
We’re lining up gigs for Spain, and trying to figure out a tour for the UK and Europe. If you or anyone you know has a venue and is looking for a tight rock’n’roll trio that sings original songs and also plays a bookload of covers from Ramones, Poison, Hendrix, Aero Smith, Sam Cooke, David Bowie and more – hit us up!
