All this month we are speaking to rising star Sandy Netburn. All the way from the state of New York, she is only eighteen and is ready to take on the music industry head first. She already has released a lot of tracks and is ready for the adventure! Today we find out a bit more about the musician.
Hello Sandy lovely to meet you! How did you get into music?
Lovely to meet you as well! I grew up listening to music while my siblings and I would play outside in the spring and summer. My parents would turn on the radio, and create playlists for us to dance to. A lot of it was ‘70s and ‘80s rock and pop… so a lot of it has always been in my subconscious.
You are only eighteen; how do you feel about entering the music industry at such a young age?
Well so far I’m loving it! I feel like I was born to entertain… I’ve been creating my whole life, and sharing it on socials since I was about 7 years old with accounts online that my parents would manage, but allow me to post on and grow. It’s such a thrill that now people are seeing and hearing what I’m doing… because I LOVE doing it!
Tell us about your music – what sort of genre of music do you perform?
At the moment, I perform my songs acoustically. Just me and a guitar. But I think the genres of the song range from pop, to rock, to funk, blues, folk, and LOTS of theatrical sounds.
You are also from New York – what is the music scene like there?
Here on Long Island it’s terrific. It seems like most of us musicians tend to know each other, or know someone who knows the person you’re thinking of. It seems like a pretty tight knit community of people working to grow. I love it.
Who is your favourite musician?
That is a TOUGH question. For a solo artist, lately I’ve really been digging Meat Loaf… Jim Steinman… SO amazing. But in regard to bands… STYX!
If people want to follow you on social media, where can they visit?
