Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Jon Harris

Tell us about:

Your latest single:

My latest release is “If You Wouldn’t,” shared as a playthrough video. It felt like the right way to present the song, just me, the guitar, and the emotion behind it.Your favourite lyric in this song“If You Wouldn’t” has a hook that carries a lot of emotional weight.

I tried rewriting the song several times, but I kept coming back to the original demo. It was raw and honest, and as my son put it, “it hits hard.” I think that authenticity is why people connect with it so strongly.

Your favourite song you’ve created that is an album track?

“If You Wouldn’t.” It’s become a fan favourite, and that makes it especially meaningful to play and share.

Your favourite song to play live?

“If You Wouldn’t.” Even in limited live settings, it’s the song that creates the strongest connection.

The song that took the longest to write and why?

“Parallel Heart” took the longest. The riff I originally wrote brought out a tone in my guitar that just didn’t sit right with me, and I kept fighting it. Everything changed one afternoon when I played the riff on a Telecaster at Long & McQuade, I immediately fell in love with the sound, and the song finally clicked. It mattered to me that the title track hit the way it was meant to.The

The song is about having one soul, one heart, and many talents branching out like spokes on a wheel. My wife still tears up when she hears it because she knows how much went into making it right.

One track you’d recommend to first-time listeners?

“If You Wouldn’t.” It consistently gets the strongest response, especially as a playthrough video, and seems to resonate immediately.

Dream collaboration?

George Lynch, without question. I’d love nothing more than to jam with him. I’d probably annoy him with a thousand questions about tone, but if I could absorb even a fraction of his sound and approach, it would be worth it.

How does it feel walking on stage to perform?

Backstage, it’s pure nerves, like I should be doing anything else. The moment I step on stage, though, it feels like there’s nowhere else I’m supposed to be.

The most fun track to play live?

“If You Wouldn’t.” It creates an immediate connection, and that energy feeds back into the performance.

Essential items you always take on tour?

I haven’t toured yet, but when I do, my BOSS GT-1000 will be essential for shaping my tones, along with my EMG-equipped guitars to make sure I’m sounding my best.

Describe your fans in three words?

Honest. Supportive. Connected. Most of my interaction so far has been through the “If You Wouldn’t” playthrough video. People seem to connect with the tone, the feel, and the idea of one guy alone with his guitar, letting the emotion speak for itself.

A recent song you wish you had written?

“Here and Now” by Staind. It’s a powerful track that shows how strong and relevant the band still is.

What can we expect from you this year?

I’m currently working on a five-song EP. Expect instrumental guitar music that’s more cinematic, heavier, and a little haunting. I’m aiming for music that lingers like a memory.
