Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.
Song From Soundtrack: Lonely At The Top – Randy Newman
Film: You’ve Got Mail
Year: 2001
I know it is not always the case but whenever I hear Randy Newman songs I automatically think of Tom Hanks. Whilst I could of gone down the route of Toy Story, I wanted to talk about another song that was featured on a soundtrack for another one of his films – You’ve Got Mail.
Lonely At The Top is a really interesting song as it has a lot of flat notes in it which creates a great sense of humour in both song and the section of the film that it appears in.
I watched You’ve Got Mail for the first time in ages the other day and still loved it. Yes, the concept is incredibly out of date now but it is still a great rom com. Also a great segment now in history showing how the internet used to be.
A song that is joyous, fun and pure Randy Newman.
