For The Love Of Film – Day 21 – Down With Love

Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.

Song From Soundtrack: Down With Love – Michael Bublé and Holly Palmer
Film:  Down With Love
Year: 2003

The film Down With Love, is a really interesting film. It is about the sexism of women in the workplace in the 1960s or 50s, and Ewan McGregors character being taken for a ride by Renee Zellweger’s Barbara. There

There are two predominant songs from this film, one that is the title song, and one by Ewan and Renee. The reason that the lead actors wanted a song was that they had both been a huge musical such as Moulin Rouge and Chicago, and wanted to cross promote their talents.

The song I want to speak about today is in is the lead song Down With Love by Michael Buble and Holly Palmer. It is a song that is part of the animated opening title sequences due to the fact it is so punchy and bold, musically and visually, your music creates a fun intro into the film.It

It is a song that is joyous, full of big band instruments, and it is a great track to open a film like this with, as it uses different styles to really connote what’s expected to come.
