For The Love Of Film – Day 17 – Breathe (2am)

Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.

Song From Soundtrack: Breathe (2am) – Anna Nalick
Film:  A Lot Like Love
Year: 2005

Sometimes you can find gems from the most weirdest sound tracks. Whilst I quite like this film, it is a rom com that I would say is underrated and not one that most could watch as it wasn’t publicised loads in the UK from what I can remember.

Breathe (2am) by Anna Nalick is on the soundtrack for this film. A Lot Like Love and I really like it as it is so different. It has a real sort of conflicting element to the melodies of the song which makes it weirdly intriguing as a song. It is a little bit ‘breathy’ at times as well – not sure how to explain it apart from that.

It is a song with it’s own individual narrative but it works really well with the themes of the film. It is sort of bittersweet which is what you want from this song.
