New Album Deep Dive – INTERVIEW –Electric Love, Sounds Escape

Welcome to a feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to Logan from Sounds Escape to find out about the album Electric Love.

Hello Logan/Sounds Escape, nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!

I am a 42 year old dad who makes music in his bedroom. I don’t like people, I don’t go out and have fun. I mainly practice guitar and watch Youtube videos. I would be really happy just making music every day and never having to deal with people.

Tell us about the new album?

Electric love is my affair with the electric guitar and the journey of falling in love with music.

Favourite track on ‘Electric Love’, and why?

Hard call – my favourite would be Almost Sexy, because the solo was really special and the song just came together perfectly. The dark side of melody would be the best showcase of what my best music is like. My dark horse pick would be Shimmer – because being a drummer, writing a song on piano and guitar only, with no drums, was way out of my comfort zone and a big achievement for me. I think it is the most beautiful guitar I have ever played.

Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?

It was fun to create – it is often not fun to record because of the pressure to get it perfect. Clean electric guitar is notoriously hard to get sounding right. It needs to sparkle. Every mistake is glaringly obvious. You have to have your best take, every take. So it could be tough come recording time. Writing and composing the songs was great fun, and always is. It is my favourite part.

What inspired the album name?

Love. Music itself is my muse, and life is about chasing, finding and falling in love. With people, things, pursuits, and moments.

Tell us about the idea behind the album cover?

I put a record player on there because I wanted to signal to people that these are real instruments being played (apart from the string sections) We (Danny my producer and I) put SO MUCH effort into the sonics, the sounds, we really wanted it to SOUND amazing. I spared no expense on mixing and mastering so that the record could be a beautiful listening experience.

What one of your songs on the new album do you think will be the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

All of them – I can only play one instrument at a time and some of the songs have 40 layers. The finger picking part in Exploding stars took THE MOST takes and would be the most difficult for me to nail live.

Why should people listen to ‘Electric Love’?

It will not be like anything else they have listened to. If they wait till night, turn the lights off and listen in the dark – they will really hear the beauty in the music and they will feel something powerful, they will be moved.
