All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2026. Today we speak to Awkward Productions who got married on stage in 2025! What will this year hold? Let’s find out….

Hello tell us all about yourself?
Hello, we are Awkward Prods – a theatre company created by queer Swede Linus Karp and his gay lover Joseph Martin to bring ridiculous genre-mixing comedy, niche pop culture references, audience participation and queer joy to the stage. Our holy tetrad of shows consists of Gwyneth Goes Skiing, Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, The Fit Prince (who gets switched on the square in the frosty castle the night before (insert public holiday here)) and how to live a jellicle life: life lessons from the 2019 hit movie musical ‘cats’. These shows have all been performed at Edinburgh Fringe for sold-out crowds, received international media coverage, and won awards. An Awkward Prods show isn’t performed for you, it’s performed with you – making each one unique.
How was 2025 for you?
Magical, ridiculous and busy. We toured the world, opened a new show, and spread the queer agenda as far and wide as possible across four continents.
What was the top 3 highlights for you?
Performing our show Gwyneth Goes Skiing to sold-out crowds in New Yor City, taking Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story on a World Tour and opening our new show The Fit Prince (who gets switched on the square in the frosty castle the night before (insert public holiday here)). Oh, and we got married too.
What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?
Swedonia is a beautiful country with a rich history and incredible pop acts.
What are your plans for 2026?
To have even more fun and be even more queer – to the point of it being a bit scary.
What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?
Very excited that Oh, Mary! has got the West End transfer – we saw it on Broadway and it was incredible. More brilliantly stupid queer shows is all we want. Heterosexual theatre? Not interested.
What styles do you hope to see more of in theatre this year?
We think the early noughties style is overdue a return, tbh – baggy trousers, blingy belts, too many necklaces from Claire’s Accessories. But really, we want to be surprised – give us styles that feel fresh! And queer, obvs. Did we mention we’re queer.
What is your ones to watch in 2026 and why?
Our next-door neighbours have been doing some suspicious activity around their garage throughout the autumn, so we’re keeping an eye on them. We’re on to you, Julie and Bruce!
Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?
No, we will just keep doing our best. At this point in our lives, that’s all we can hope for. Making it into another new year is both a blessing and a curse.
Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about you?
@awkwardprods across all platforms
Three words why people should come and see you this year?
You are gay.
