Every month we will take a look at the music videos of certain artists and bands more in depth to explore just why I love them.
I am a Video Editor – and one of the things (probably the main thing) that inspired me to work in television post production was actually music videos.
Music videos are one of my favourite things in the world and I spent hours and I MEAN literally hours when I was growing up watching them Even now in the modern world, I can find myself getting lost on YouTube watching music videos for hours on end – they are an addiction.
This month we are delving into the world of S Club 7, there are so many reasons why I decided to kick off the year with this band. Firstly they are incredibly uplifting to start 2026 and I think it is a fun pop band to look at. They were around everywhere in the late nineties and early noughties as they were not just a pop band, they also had a television show on CBBC, even auditioned for S Club 8 and had a film. So let’s delve into the world this month.
Natural – S Club 7
Why did you choose this particular video?
When I was growing up this was one video that was never really shown a lot and it was not the most exciting video. However the reason why I chose it was that it was the first music video where Rachel took the lead in the vocals and sings pretty much the whole song. This means that the edit has a different feel and a completely different editing style.
So, what is the narrative?
The gang are on an island that look deserted and the song is focussed on Rachel singing about what looks like a male member of the band.
Favourite parts of the video

The colour grade is quite faded in this video, it has a hint of sepia to it to create this dream like feeling to the video. It also feels like there is a hint of a vignette to the video as well to emphasise this.

There are a lot of close ups that are used throughout the editing as well to really link into the theme of the video. It focusses on the emotions, body parts and the members of the band. It ties in well with the themes of the video and the edit makes it a good watch.
Unlike S Club Party, you do not get to see all the seven members dancing at the same time in Natural. This is due to the fact that through a lot of the dance sequences, the camera tends to pan across the dance routines. It creates a different tone to the video and makes it look different and gives the video more sentimental.
