Taste Of States – This Week – Giant Texas Tenderloin Sandwich

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

GIANT TEXAS TENDERLOIN SANDWICH

Today we are heading to Oklahoma to a State Fair to have a look at a really decadent sandwich. It is also massive and will leave you full up.

This particular dish is huge, it starts with an eight ounce boneless pork loin. It is cut into portions and then butterflied. It is then tenderised, the more tender the pork is, the more it can be smashed.

The tenderloin is then put into a battery of milk, butter, salt and pepper and then covered in cornmeal breading. The tebderloin is then deep fried.

The bun makes the base of this and is topped with the tenderloin, then lettuce, tomatoes and ranch dressing. the tebderloin is so big that it leaks out both sides of the bun.
