Sunday Book Club: Hidden In Plain Sight, Jeffrey Archer

Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book that is the second book in the William Warwick series.

Hidden In Plain Sight (2020)

Jeffrey Archer

Synopsis

Newly promoted, Detective Sergeant William Warwick has been reassigned to the drugs squad. His first case: to investigate a notorious south London drug lord known as the Viper.

But as William and his team close the net around a criminal network unlike any they have ever encountered, he is also faced with an old enemy, Miles Faulkner. It will take all of William’s cunning to devise a means to bring both men to justice, a trap neither will expect, one that is hidden in plain sight . . .

Filled with Jeffrey Archer’s trademark twists and turns, and following on from the Sunday Times bestseller Nothing Ventured, Hidden in Plain Sight is the enthralling second instalment in the life of William Warwick, but can also be read as a standalone story.

Positive Points

If you are looking for an in depth book about policing then this is the fiction book for you. It is the second year of William Warwick career in the police and he is delving into the world of drugs. It is a book that is in depth and gives you a true insight into the world of being a police officer.

Negative Points

Whilst it is a descriptive book, the pace can be a bit slow as the main character can be a bit plain compared to others in the narrative.

Overall Review

It is an interesting read and whilst there are parts that may be lacking the pace, it is a book that you may enjoy and may want to give a chance as it can be read as a stand alone or as part of the series.
