All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2026. Today we speak to Musical Theatre Writer Kyle Fackrell who had a great 2025 and is hoping for a fantastic 2026

Hello tell us all about yourself?

I write musicals!! I’m originally from California, and came to New York in 2011 on a dream to be a Broadway musical composer. I strive to write songs that are honest, genuine and heartfelt. 

How was 2025 for you?

2025 has been a year for dreams coming true. 

What was the top 3 highlights for you?

1. My original musical, The Art Tour, had an Off-Broadway run!! 
2. I started teaching a High School choir
3. Time spent with my wife and 3 kids is always a constant highlight for me

What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?

The power of perseverance. Seeing my musical on an Off-Broadway stage with such incredible actors and designers and directors was incredible!!

What are your plans for 2026?

I’m hoping you’ll be seeing more of The Art Tour musical in 2026! Our run at Theatre Row was a huge success. We’re hoping to transition to a new theatre soon.   

What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?

I loved seeing Maybe Happy Ending and would love to see it again! 

What styles do you hope to see more of in theatre this year?

I love musicals that are completely original; not based on a movie or pre-existing songs. 

Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?

My New Year’s resolution is to be mentally present and grateful when things go well, before stressing about the next thing.
