If there is one thing I love writing about is Christmas but it is also an event that I love taking photographs of. I adore the sparkling lights of Christmas so I always take a lot of pictures. I always take a lot of images of the decorations as they fascinate me. Over the next few weeks we are going to talk about some of the photographs that I have taken over the years.

The one thing that I adore about coastal areas in the festive season is that they always do something a bit different and more creative.
Arbroath is a fishing town on the East Coat of Scotland. The one thing that is great about this place is that is celebrates creativity and it’s history of the town. At certain points of the year they have the local crochet team create fishy themed items to put on display near the harbour.
At Christmas, the fishing history is celebrated even more. In 2023, there was a Christmas tree added to the harbour with a difference – it was made out of lobster baskets, fish nets and buoys as decorations.
It is such a fun photograph – it is incredibly festive whilst also pushing the history and the heritage into the limelight to promote it. Even though it is not the norm it has a real Christmas feel to it. I also love the way that the Scottish flag us also peeping through at the back as well.
If you look closely you will also see a lot of small twinkly lights on the ‘tree’ as well which makes it really special and glistening.
