Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.
Film: The Muppets Christmas Carol
Original Release Date: 1992
I have never been a fan of Charles Dickins writing – whilst it records a wonderful in depth history of what London used to be like – I just cannot get on with the level of depth of writing. We studied his writing Oliver and Hard Times in college and just found it really hard to read. However, there is one version of Charles Dickins that is great and it is a Christmas favourite.
The Muppets Christmas Carol has become a cult for many at Christmas. I am a huge fan of The Muppets but it is a film, I personally don’t watch a lot. I am not a fan of the Christmas Carol Story so I always avoid films related to it. Saying that, The Muppets is the best version.
I love the songs, it makes such a jolly festive feel for the season. I rewatched the whole film for the first time last year. The last time I did that was when I was a child – so it had been a very long time.
I enjoyed it a lot more then I ever had before. I enjoyed the comedy, the songs and the story to an extent. I still don’t like the actual story but the Muppets are the best – no questions asked.
