Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
GATOR KEBABS
Today we are heading back to the food festivals to take a look at a snack that may appeal to some but not to all. Let’s head to Florida State Fair to take a look at it and why it is so popular.
This particular Gator Kebab has secret ingredients in the batter which sadly I cannot tell you what they are as I cannot discover them. Six to seven pieces of the tail of the gator is put on a stick, they are then dipped and covered in cornmeal. The whole snack is then deep fried.
The gator kebabs are cooked for six to seven minutes and then they are served up with fresh homemade ranch dressing and homemade potato chips.
These are a popular dish and have a lot of praise for them from the customers that bought them.
