Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.
Film: The Sixth Sense
Original Release Date: 1999
There was a lot of buzz around this film when it was released, I do not remember much about it but I know that it was not a film that at the time I was interested in seeing I was quite a young child and was not interested in thriller type films. Then a handful of years later when I was in High School we had a substitute teacher for English and they decided to make us watch it.
I remember someone in the class pointed shouted out the twist right at the beginning but I don’t think it effected the film for me at all because when the twist happened it really shocked me. I was not expecting it and I found it was such a clever film.
As I have got older and went through things such as college I studied A Level Film and it was only then did I fully understand just how clever and amazing this film was from a cinematography point of view, it really taught me about the world of colour and the way it can be used in productions and changed my train of through forever.
It really is an amazing film and urge you to watch it if you have not done so far.
