Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
APPLE PIE FRIES
Today we are heading to Portland Oregon to look at a delicacy that was available at a State Fair. They were created by Niki Dong and I felt that it was important to mention it as they are an interesting snack.
Apple Pie Fries are a sweet delicacy and combines Granny Smith apples from the North West of America with lots of ingredients to create magic. The apples are peeled and spiralised and put into a batter. In the batter it is flavoured with salt, cinnamon, powdered vanilla, water and baking powder. The apples are then deep fried until they are cooked and then they are topped with cinnamon, caramel and whipped cream.
There is not a lot about this online but what I can gather from online there are a lot of positive reviews.
