Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Strong Enough

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Strong Enough – Cher

Today we are delving into the archives to take a look at a song that a music legend released in the late nineties. It is one of those songs that you may of forgotten about it because it is not the first song you would link to the artist.

On the 22nd February 1999, Cher released the single Strong Enough. It was written by Mark Taylor and Paul Barry and released under the record labels of Warner Brothers and WCA. It was the second single to be released from the album Believe which was released in 1998.

Over the years, the song has become a legacy and according to the 2020 Chicago Tribune, it is one of the top ’25 pride anthems of all time’.

The single went into the top 10 in many countries including Denmark (5), France (3), Hungary (1), Poland (2), Spain (4), Switzerland (5) and US Dance Club (1) to name a few. In the United Kingdom it went into the single charts at number 5. The single also went certified gold and sold over 400,000 units.
