How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?

I’m afraid I wasn’t very creative with this. It’s very much a work-in-progress but who knows what it might one day become…

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

This show is a very new experience for me. My last four solo shows have been primarily character comedy, filled with props, puppets, tech and costumes but this show is exclusively stand-up. While the humour is still very much my style of weird and whimsical it’s a much more stripped back approach with a lot more about me as a “character” at the centre.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Erin Hunter’s “Burn Baby Burn: LA Inferno”. It’s her new comedy show all about her parents losing their home in the California wildfires, which I know sounds very traumatic but I had a lot of fun helping her develop one of the characters and I think it’s going to be really interesting and unhinged!

How are rehearsals going?

Rehearsing stand-up is very odd but I guess I better start cracking! I love to improvise and as I say, this is a new direction for me so it has felt strange trying to rehearse. I did the very first hour WIP at the Leicester Comedy Festival in February and had a lot of fun. To be honest, that’s what made me think to do Camden.

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?

I assume Camden Fringe organisers hate when they get compared to Edinburgh but it is genuinely nice to have an alternative. It’s a relief to be able to pick the length of the run and to experiment without feeling like you have to bet your whole life and savings on it!

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

If you need the loo, don’t waste money buying something from a cafe so you can use theirs. Think big: The Royal Opera House, The National Portrait Gallery, The Tate are some of my favourite public bathrooms. 5 Stars, highly recommend.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Pedro Pascal.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

Pablo. He looks quite cool and artistic.
