Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025

Improv At The Fringe – FEATURE –From Zoom to Fringe, Meet The International Improv Team

Today we let Gerry take the reigns and talk about how a Zoom improv class during Lockdown turned into a show at Edinburgh Fringe

There may be other versions of the story, but our favourite is that these four met in a Zoom improv class during Lockdown, and they enjoyed it so much they formed themselves into a virtual troupe, with Italian and American members as well.

“They evolved a unique two-part show…”

Their earlier adventures centred on various crazy villages, but they acquired their name after an episode in which some scouts became involved in an ocular catastrophe. From then on they were the One Eyed Scouts. (The troupe wants to point out that no adventure-loving youngster have been harmed in the creation of their shows).

They evolved a unique two-part show. In the first half they present an improvised move, the movie that the audience didn’t realise they really needed to see. After the movie, the Scouts present themselves as the Hollywood actors who have bared their souls to bring it to the audience, and share back-stage gossip, and sometimes play the publicity department’s favourite game !”How well do you know me”.

“…they acquired their name after an episode in which some scouts became involved in an ocular catastrophe...”

These four stalwarts in our headline, not content with their internet relationship, went into a pub called Brewdog Lothian Road as part of PBH’s Free Fringe in 2023, and they enjoyed it so much they went back in 2024. The room has a lovely atmosphere and they are very happy to be back in 2025, playing at 6.05 pm every day 17th to 24th August. They would love to see you there!

Come along to see ‘Improvised Movie Fun With The One Eyed Scouts’ at Brewdog Lothian Road (Venue 102) – at 6.05pm between the 17th-24th August
