How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
It’s difficult to explain the origin of the name without ruining some spoilers of the play. I would say that once you watch the piece you’ll understand that it could never be called by any other name.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
A roller coaster. The beginning of the play warms the audience up, gets them laughing, all the while planting these small seeds of unease that come back to bite them later in the show. The term ‘comedy drama’ feels like an overused term but it truly brings the audience to heights of laughter followed by pits of despair.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
‘A Woman’s Truth’ at Libra Cafe Theatre looks fascinating. Also ‘Tethered’ at Rosemary Branch Theatre and ‘Symptom of Life’ at The Cockpit.
How are rehearsals going?
Good! Although we had to cut a few minutes from the original script, let’s just say that wasn’t an easy process. Now it’s a matter of seeing how this new length fits into the world we’ve created.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
The opportunity to display our work to an international audience for the first time feels like a dream. We’ve toured an Australian show to Australian audiences and we feel incredibly lucky that we get to show our unique, wacky little world to a UK audience.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
House sitting or staying with friends / family is a godsend. Neither of us are paying accomodation in London and I don’t know how we would manage this if we were having to rent on top of our show costs!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
A representative from the National Theatre.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this year’s pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Fernando – he’s a gorgeous, eccentric bird with a little bit of class.
If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?
Instagram – @ameliardunn or my co writer/director @tuiasuter
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Raw, witty, feminine
