Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025

Travel Book – FRINGE TRAVEL EDITION – Haddington

When you are at the Fringe there may be a day or so when you want a break away from the main area of Edinburgh. So over July, we are going to look at areas you could potentially visit from the city for a mini day trip. Each can be either a full day or a half and I have been to all of them so thought it would be find to share this month.

HADDINGTON

Today we are going inland to a little town that you may want to visit for a half day or so just to get a break from the festival if you desire it.

Haddington is in the centre of East Lothian and is about a half and hour drive away from Edinburgh. You can also reach the town via many busses or the train (if you change at East Linton).

If you are interested in History then it may be a place for you as it has a rich history and has landmarks such as Lennoxlove House. St Mary’s Collegiate Church and Haddington Town House. It is also a really pleasant area to walk around with the River Tyne nearby and a handful of countryside walks.

I visited Haddington by accident. It was a really hot day and I started to feel dizzy so got off the bus I was on and ended up finding myself in Haddington. I found an amazing cafe (which you can read about here). I also walked around the town and found parts of it incredibly pretty as well as it having some interesting shops.
