Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I’m an actor, producer, and theatermaker, born in the Canary Islands and striving to make it (whatever that means) in New York City.
Tell us all about your show!
A Drag Is Born is a wordless and interactive show in which a man magically becomes the Queen of the Carnival onstage. After winning 7 Awards in 6 Festivals in the US, and getting the best reviews of my career, I’m excited to bring it to ZOO Playground 2!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I’ll meet some NYC friends, such as Susan Campanaro with ‘Doing Time with Lavinia,’ and I’m super excited to meet new artists and shows there. I’m open to the unknown and looking forward to the unexpected.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
As a mainly solo artist, I’m a lonely creator. So I look forward to cancelling my social anxiety and connecting with other artists and audiences worldwide.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Coffee, flyering, water, show, comfort food, 8-hour sleep. In that order.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Any place with traditional Scottish food will be my favourite. I’m looking forward to eating carbs.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Meeting people from all over the world and with different artistic visions is invaluable. Also, meeting new audiences and getting to talk to them is something I love.
What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?
I’m 41 years old. I’m already exhausted thinking of being awake all day with no siesta – I’m Spanish, yes.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are Away?
Not without my Crocs!
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Doing shows every day at 18:05 h (except for the 12th, as I don’t want to compete with OASIS) will prevent me from eating until the evening, as I can’t perform with a full stomach. Is this a hack or a curse?
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Water, Tylenol, deodorant.
What´s the secret to successful flyering?
I’ve been too shy in the past. For EdFringe, I plan to be in character so that I can flyer more freely and actually entertain as I sell entertainment. If you see a hairy Godmother, ask her for a whimsical flyer!
If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?
Please, follow me on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/edudiazactor/
And finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Surprising, universal, moving.
