Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Priya Hall and I’m a comedian, writer, and aspiring tradwife.

Tell us all about your show!

My show Reckless Abandon is all about how the family you grow up with inevitably impacts the family you grow yourself. I’ll be talking about my mum’s 90s parenting techniques (there were none) and my dad’s vanishing act (rude) and lots more in between.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

So so many. Lorna Rose Treen’s 24 Hour Diner People will be mad and compelling and FUN. Sharon Wanjohi never fails to make me laugh and she’s debuting this year with her show Sharon Wanjohi: In The House and it’ll be so so so funny. My wife, Leila Navabi, is also taking her own show up to Fringe this year, Relay, which is all about the conception of our daughter and I’m so excited to see it all come together because it looks great.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I debuted in 2023 and the most valuable advice I was given was to find somewhere quiet and crucially comedian free an hour before your show so your brain can chill for a sec and remember what it’s doing. Also look up some vocal exercises on YouTube because your voice will dry up to a crisp. I’d also advise anyone to do some endurance training in a sauna or an actual oven before doing their first show at Fringe because it gets so hot and it feels like gigging in the pits of hell (temperature wise).

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

My daily routine at Fringe this year is going to look a bit different because I’m bringing up my baby who will be 8 months old. Presumably my daily routine will start at 4:30am which is when she likes to wake up (slay). I’ll drink a coffee and stare at a blank wall while she plays with an obnoxiously loud toy (double slay) and then I’ll crash out at midday when she naps and wake up bleary eyed and confused half an hour before my show at 5:45.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Civerinos is delish.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Gigging everyday is like boot camp and you feel unstoppable by the end.

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

Gigging everyday is like boot camp and you feel absolutely worn out by the end.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

A baby. Specifically my baby.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Bring a baby so you can’t go on any nights out.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A baby, a toothbrush, a calendar.

what’s the secret to successful flyering?

Intense eye contact
