Hello! Tell us about yourself?
HEAD CHEF: I’m Head Chef, leader of this gang of crooks and cooks. You may also recognise me from my time as a celebrity chef on Ready Steady Cook. Before I was fired after me and Gino D’Acampo burgled Paul Young’s House. I’m not making that up, google it, that genuinely happened.
SOUS CHEF: I’m Sous Chef, the world’s greatest method actor. Like all actors I am perpetually out of work, so I have been moonlighting as a cook, that was until Head Chef offered me something more…now I’m moonlighting as a crook! I am the gangs master of disguise.
POT WASH: I’m plucky Pot Wash. I clean the dishes.
SOUS CHEF: I must take the opportunity to say thank you for having us again after our previous interview was such a disaster, we promise the upmost professionalism this time…
Tell us all about your show!
HEAD CHEF: READY STEADY CROOKS! is a comedy caper! A deliciously absurdist slapstick romp with a drizzle of dark humour. Expect wine, crime, robbery and…
POT WASH: Gobbery?
SOUS CHEF: 5 stars from The Reviews Hub, described as ‘Python-esque brilliance’ but wait there’s more! ‘Highly energetic and brilliant inventive in its zaniness’ from Ought To Be Clowns.com and how could we forget our OffFest Award nomination?
Pot Wash: We’ll be at Greenside Riddles Court from the 18th till the 23rd of August at 7:35pm!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
SOUS CHEF: Spy Movie: The Play will be returning to The Pleasance after a sensational tour of the UK
POT WASH: We’re performing at Greenside Riddles Court this year and are very excited to see all of the other great shows we’ll be sharing our stage with!
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
SOUS CHEF: This will be our debut at the Edinburgh Fringe but we have had the honour of performing at the Camden Fringe previously. My only advice is seize the day, if you are performing at Edinburgh you have already thrown away all reason as well as the mundanity of life. You are not merely existing like the plebs of the world, YOU are truly LIVING! LAUGHING! LOVING! GET UP ALL OF YOU, DANCE WITH ME, TO DANCE IS TO LIVE!
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
POT WASH: Highland cows.
SOUS CHEF: The accolades, making a considerable profit, Irn-Bru on tap.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
SOUS CHEF: wake up, read the complete works of Shakespeare, make some edits, sip on a cool chai latte until it is time to tread the boards and change lives with my performance
POT. WASH: Do my skincare routine, have a little cry, re-do my skin care routine, do some vocal warm ups that Sous taught me then get this show on the road!
HEAD CHEF: Hair of the dog to recover from the night before. I need to keep my blood alcohol level high otherwise I’ll die. Sample some of the best ristorantes Edinburgh has to offer, nick some food. See some of the best shows Edinburgh has to offer, nick some ideas from them then do our show!
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
HEAD CHEF: The Baked Potato Shop
POT WASH: That’s closed now Chef, I’m so sorry.
SOUS CHEF: It’s now an overpriced souvenir shop.
HEAD CHEF: …god gives his rootingist battles to his tootingist cowboys
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
HEAD CHEF: Well it was The Baked Potato Shop (HEAD CHEF then proceeds to punch a hole in the wall, ironically in the shape of a potato)
SOUS CHEF: Seeing people of all creeds of life come together to create art and occasionally sweet music
POT WASH: If I do really well in my performance then Chef and Sous said I can treat myself to one garment from the Princess Diana Memorial Tartan Shop on the Royal Mile!
HEAD CHEF: That’s closed now Pot, I’m so sorry.
SOUS CHEF: It’s now an overpriced souvenir shop.
POT WASH: …and it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind. (sobs)
What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?
HEAD CHEF: Having to contend with Edinburgh’s biggest organised crime syndicate…AIR BNB
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
HEAD CHEF: MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace
POT WASH: He’s in our van.
SOUS CHEF: He’s fine there’s a window cracked open.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
HEAD CHEF: Don’t do it.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
SOUS CHEF: Mace.
POT WASH: My trusty Scrub Daddy ™ (we’re not sponsored by Scrub Daddy but Mr Daddy Scrub if you are reading this we’ll take anything and do anything for money)
HEAD CHEF: Your own baked potatoes now! (sobs)
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
SOUS CHEF: The pincer movement.
HEAD CHEF: You trap them in a corner so they can’t escape.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
POT WASH: You can find us on Instagram at @Ready_Steady_Crooks and at @R_S_Crooks and finally on TikTok @therealrsc !!!
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
HEAD CHEF: Ready
SOUS CHEF: Steady
POT WASH: Fun…No! wait, I made a whoopsie, no, no! Let me go again!!! PLEASE!
