Tell Us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Our newest single is called Crimson. I think it might be one of the most fun songs the band has done.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
“Singing Crimson And Clover, over and over again.” Not the most original choice since it’s the hook–but it’s a good hook.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
I would say Goodbye, which was originally on the Japanese release of the Waiting for You EP
Your favourite song to play live:
Turn Out The Lights
The song that was the longest to write and why?
I don’t think songs really take us all that long. We’ve learned when something isn’t working, or if we’ve hit a dead end. We know when we have to step away from it for a bit and let it come more naturally, vs trying to force something.
Your most emotional track:
That’s tough to pin down, because every song has a lot of emotions tied to it. For me, it’s Turn Out The Lights. It was just written during one of those times in my life. It brings back a lot of memories.
Dream collaboration:
I’d love to work with Neal Avron. I also would have loved to work with Adam Schlesinger (RIP).
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Lots of excitement. It’s the best part of any show day.
The hardest track to play live:
Simpler songs like Misery are tougher to get right, because they’re more precise. If you’re not on, it’s a lot more obvious.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Socks. Candy. Coke Zero. For me, diabetes meds.
Describe your fans in three words:
Absolutely F******* Amazing
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
There are sooooo many. Pick a Green Day song, or a Jimmy Eat World song, and you’ve probably found one.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
Shows. If you want us to play a show near you, tell us and we’ll do our best to make it happen. We’re planning to release a single later in the year. More music videos, of some sort. Fun social media things, if you’re good. We’re also working on a new full-length and another special secret release for Manic Kat Records, but those are both probably coming next year.
