All this month we are speaking to the musician Jon Chesbro. The musician is from Maine and is both a songwriter, producer and a multi-instrumentalist. Last year he released the EP Outta State Outta Mind and is set to release new music soon but has recently released the new track Choices. This week we talk about preparing for a show.
How do you warm up for a show?
I talk to myself in the mirror like a crazy person.
How do you wind down afterwards?
Deep breaths and tea!
Tell us about the day of a show – what is the process your band goes through to get ready?
Just running songs and not going too hard before the show. Gotta stay hydrated! Eat a healthy diet. VEGGIES!
How many times do you rehearse before a show?
As many as possible – it’s always good to practice!
What are some of the most important lessons you have learnt about music in the last few years?
Enjoy the ride. We get so distracted by social media and then we start comparing ourselves to what everyone else is doing and I feel like that hurts creativity, so don’t compare yourself. Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. Just have fun and enjoy it because you love it not because you want everyone to like you.
How do you feel when you get up on stage?
Excited! I turn into a whole new person and the excitement from the crowd gets me energized!
We are based in the UK – do you have any plans to tour over here?
If I can swing it I’ll do it!!! If you guys have a good show let me know! We can work something out… I’ll get there.
Thank you again for all your support in reading and engaging with the website.
