Today’s Featured Improv Show – INTERVIEW – Southend 48 Hour Improvathon

Tell us about:

Your latest improv show:

I’m currently in rehearsals for an improvised Shakespeare play called The Play’s The Thing with the brilliant @johnjokesoakes and @mrchrismead

48 hours is a long time to improv for! How will you keep it fresh for suggestions, etc?

In an Improvathon, though the audience is a huge part of the show and though it’s very interactive, we don’t specifically take suggestions to kick things off as we already have a setting. And for keeping it fresh; toothpaste!

Your favourite suggestion you have been given?

Barbie’s Dream House

Your favourite venue to perform at:

Why, the Pleasance London of course!

Improv hero:

John Oakes

Dream venue to play at:

The Varscona, Edmonton Canada

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Nervous excitement, butterflies.

The hardest improv suggestion to perform and why:

Inside something; a human body, a saxophone, a blender etc. Lol

Essential items you always take with you to a show?

Airwaves, water bottle, toothpaste…again.

Describe your fans in three words:

Creative, supportive and fun

What we can look forward to from you this year:

Lots of international improv festival teaching and performing including Pandora, Welcome, Flock and Improvaganza! Plus lots more West End and UK touring dates with Showstopper! – The Improvised Musical. Also the Southend 48 Hour Improvathon is happening two weeks after the London 50! Anyone for another weekend of improv madness? This year, raising funds for Refuge and set at The School of Magic!
