No Letting Go – Wayne Wonder
Today we are looking at a song that was around in the early noughties and sort of created a sense of an earworm as the chorus catches in your head and does not go away.
On the 21st January 2003 No Letting Go was released by Jamaican reggae artist Wayne Wonder. The single was written by Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden and V.W. Charles and released under the record labels of Atlantic and VP.
According to past interviews, the song is written about a girl that Wayne Wonder once knew. The music video was filmed in Ochos Rios Jamaica and directed by Director X.
The single did well in the charts and went into the top 10 in Belgium (2), Netherlands (3), US Rhythmic (8) and US Hot Hot Rap songs (7). In the UK the single went into the charts at number 3 in the Hip Hop and R&B Charts. In the UK, it also became certified platinum selling over 600,00 copies.
