Your favourite suggestion you have been given?
It is hard to think of a favourite as I specialise in short form & that involves a constant stream of suggestions. I can however tell you 2 suggestions I never want to hear again: Garden Centre and Potato Peeler. People think they are being super original, but they are most definitely not.
Your favourite venue to perform at:
Caffi Isa in Mynydd Isa, North Wales. The most incredible venue that is passionate about supporting the arts. It is also the home of Flintshire Funnybone, the improv community my wife and I set up, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Improv hero:
Basically, every improviser who ever appeared on Whose Line is it Anyway? Because they all played a part in my improv obsession. Since there are so many to choose from though, I won’t. I will instead say my wonderful wife Sekki Tabasuares. She is incredibly gifted and has an understanding of the craft that runs deeper than I could ever imagine.
Dream venue to play at:
The Comedy Store in London with the Comedy Store Players.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Right up until I walk out on stage I am always very much stuck in my own head, not wanting to talk to anybody else. As soon as that switch gets flipped and the adrenaline starts pumping, I become a totally different version of myself and I love it.
The hardest improv suggestion to perform and why:
I like to think I can make most suggestions work, but I don’t enjoy when you have people shouting out inappropriate suggestions. I like the idea of my shows being a fun, family friendly atmosphere.
Essential items you always take with you to a show?
I never step on stage without a hat!
Describe your fans in three words:
I have fans?
What we can look forward to from you this year:
My book ‘The Pundamentals, A Guide to Pund From the Improv Page to the Stage’ is due out very soon. It is my first book and is something I am very excited about. I have always loved puns and wordplay and it was a real shock to me when I discovered so many people in the improv world fear puns! I wanted to write a book that really breaks everything down, explains the ins and outs, and gives people the confidence to just have a go.
