Every day this month we are taking a look at a variation of couples from different television shows. It is the month of ‘love’ so it in tradition we are looking at the world of relationships. There will be spoilers throughout so be warned!

Day 24 – Daphne and Niles,

Frasier

If there is one relationship I remember from childhood then it is Daphne and Niles. When I used to get ready or school Frasier used to be on Channel 4 and I vividly remember liking the episodes where Niles acts stupid around Daphne. It was the best part of the show.

The main thing that makes this couple great is the build up – the way Niles is around Daphne and that he always wants to do what he can to spend more time with her and tries to make it look so innocent when everyone else knows that it isn’t.

When Daphne starts to get feelings and finds out about Niles feels is a great handful of episodes and was a fun an adorable watch when everything eventually goes right.

The only issue I have with it (and this is due to the writers and the shows decisions) when the actress who plays Daphne is pregnant instead of trying to hide it throughout they don’t have her on the show and keep saying Daphne who is very skinny anyway is at ‘fat camp’ because she has gained too much weight since being with Niles. In this modern day I hate it and it is so wrong that it makes me angry. There are better ways to write someone out of a show temporarily, she is from Manchester and they are in Seattle they could of said she had to go back to England for a medical emergency or something.
