Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Novacrow

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Our newest Christmas single ‘The Krampus, The Krampus’ is a re-vamped version of one of our biggest hits ‘Medusa Medusa’ and it’s scheduled for release on December 6th. It will be released alongside a brand new music video and if nobody recognises it as the greatest Christmas song ever written we will cry ourselves to sleep for the entirety of 2025

Your favourite lyric in this song:

Our favourite lyric is actually one that didn’t make the cut: “you’d better not hide, you’d better not run; The Krampus is here, and he’s got a gun”

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Our last album ‘Look At Me Now’ is CHOCK FULL of great songs. One of my favourites that we don’t really get to play often on it is the last track called ‘My Virtues’ – it has this sultry and dark vibe and is way jazzier than anything we’ve ever written before.

Your favourite song to play live:

‘It’s Alive’ off our last album is a lot of fun to play – it’s got lots of fun little riffs and ends in this big climactic sing-a-long. The arrangements on it is so full as well, it just sounds huge.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

‘Medusa Medusa’ took quite a lot to work out. It has a full brass section arrangement and loads of little silly instruments thrown it, but also I remember really struggling with coming up with a convincing bridge section to it. There was quite a lot of back and forth amongst the band before we came up with the parts that you hear now.

Your most emotional track:

For a band known for its silly stage antics and humour, we have a surprising amount of “serious” tracks. Off the last album, the main ones are “Hollow Armour”, “Day Break” (both of which were released with music videos) and “My Virtues”

Dream collaboration:

Devin Townsend and/or Igorrr, hands down.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Usually a mix of excitement, indigestion, and focus.

The hardest track to play live:

None of them are particularly hard, but ‘Why Are My Dreams Always Trying To Kill Me?’ is pretty fast and being able to play all the tremolo parts tightly can be a bit challenging at times.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Towels, a Nintendo Switch, and playing cards.

Describe your fans in three words:

As Tina Turner would say, “Simply The Best”

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

None, because we probably would have butchered them. Actually, we probably wish we had written “My Humps” because there’s no way anybody with half a brain can’t improve on it somehow.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

We have a sneaky release planned for sometime early in the year. Other than that, we’re probably gonna be doing shows across the country whilst focusing on writing new songs.
