Forgotten Songs! – This Week – The Avenue

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

The Avenue – Roll Deep

Today we are heading back to the early nineties to look at a song that made the rounds in the music industry in the United Kingdom. It was a song that you heard a lot around that time.

On the 18th July 2005, the grime collective Roll Deep released the single The Avenue. It was written by Wiley, Mark Tiberham and Lol Mason and released under the record label of Relentless Records.

The song may of sounded familiar because it samples the 1983 single Heartache Avenue that was released by the band The Maisonettes.

The song went to number 11 in the UK charts and was also released with Dizzee Rascal featuring on one of the versions.
