A Kind Of Christmas Card – Morten Harket
Today we look at a Christmas single that was released in the mid nineties and was also the debut singer for a musician. I came across this song on an episode of Richard Osman’s House of Games last year and thought it would be fun to talk abut is this year.
A Kind Of Christmas Card was released by the Norwegian solo artist Morten Harket in August of 1995. The single was written by Harvard Rem and Morten Harket and released under the record label of Warner Brothers. The song was released off of the album Wild Seed.
I had to double check if this is was a Christmas song as the lyrics are quite dark but I found it on a Christmas episode of House of Games and even when looking online it is classed as a festive track. The song was inspired by the true story of a Norwegian girl who had moved to Los Angeles to become a film star, but became involved in pornography and drugs.
The single went to number 1 in Norway and Number 53 in the UK Singles chart. I am still not sure if it is an ‘official’ Christmas song but the festive words are in the title that is why I thought I would discuss it.
