INTERVIEW -A Quick Conversation with: Falsely Accused

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to Matt Tavano from the band Falsely Accused wo are set to release an EP in January of 2025.

What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?

A lot of the lyrics I write come from a personal place. Our first record opens with a song called “Running With the Devil.” Much of that record dealt with me figuring out my own mortality and place in the world after nearly leaving it. “Running With the Devil” starts that storyline and probably touches the deepest and darkest places I had been existing in at the time. It’s one of those songs that still transports me back to that place every time I sing it.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

A fan told me once that I looked like how she thought Kyuss sounded. I have no idea what that means, but I got the impression that she was paying me a compliment.

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

We got to play a show with another Boston band called CE Skidmore and the Damn Fine Band. Their energy, stage presence and music are just incredible. It is such a gift to be able to, not only play our music live, but then watch and enjoy the other bands on the bill. They’re easily in my Top 5 favourite Boston bands.

What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

We have a new song on our upcoming EP which has been something of a “project tune.” Our guitar player Mark Young came in with a vision for a multi part song and we’ve worked hard to shape and arrange it. We’re starting to play it out now, but it definitely took us some time to get there.

Dream Collaboration and why ?

Great question. From a band perspective, I would love to have Josh Homme produce one of our records. He’s clearly a genius, and I can only imagine how our sound would benefit from his input.
