Movie Memories – This Week – Inception

Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.

Film: Inception
Original Release Date: 2010

I really like the film Inception – it is really clever, well edited and has a really great story as well. However the first time I saw it – I cannot say that about the whole film – let me tell you why.

In the summer of 2010 I was living in America. In my last week over there me and a friend went down to Florida to go to the theme parks. Due to the fact we arrived at such a weird time it meant that the first day we explored the Universal area of shops called City Walk.

In the time there we looked at shops, went to an amazing Volcano place for drinks and then went to the cinema.

The cinema at Universal was unlike any I had been to at the time – it was a time when the UK never had a cinema like it – reclining soft comfy chairs that were big and luxurious. It was amazing and like nothing I had ever witnessed before – however there was one problem – the comfort!

The chairs were so comfortable that I ended up dosing off through Inception. I was so gutted I missed a section of the film because I was too comfortable. Every time i watch this film, this memory comes to mind.
