Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
“Showtime, Baby!” is a deeply personal song where I explore the tension between living authentically for myself and striving to meet others’ expectations. I believe it’s a theme that will resonate with many people, especially in today’s world, where external pressures often challenge our true selves. I wrote this song in California, drawing inspiration from the beautiful, sun-drenched landscapes and the relaxed, free-spirited vibe of the West Coast. I aspired to capture the essence of the “California Sound,” infusing the track with warm, organic tones and a liberated melody that reflects the feeling of freedom and openness.
Ultimately, “Showtime, Baby!” is about the journey of self-discovery and the courage it takes to be true to oneself amidst external pressures. It’s a celebration of authenticity and the joy that comes from embracing who we truly are.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
My favourite lyric from “Showtime, Baby!” is a simple line that encapsulates the song’s central theme perfectly: “Do I live for you, do I live for me?” It succinctly captures the internal conflict many of us face—the struggle between living authentically for ourselves and conforming to others’ expectations.
This line resonates with me because it speaks to the heart of the human experience, highlighting the universal quest for self-identity and validation.
Your favourite song that you have created:
That’s such a challenging question to answer! I could imagine for parents, it would be like picking a favorite child! If I had to choose, my favourite released single I’ve ever created would be a song called “Eclipse,” and my favourite unreleased track I’ve ever created would be a song called “Cinematic.” “Eclipse” is my favourite released song because of the indelible process and experience I had while creating it, as well as the meaning of the song, which serves as a reminder to never let your light be eclipsed in the face of someone else’s shine. “Cinematic” is my favourite unreleased song because of the lyrical and melodic prosody I used when crafting it, and the way the production does its title justice! “Cinematic” is a song I’ve had the honor and pleasure of meticulously developing alongside such inspiring collaborators, and I look forward to sharing it soon!
Your favourite song to play live:
My favourite original song to play live is “Skylark.” It’s one of the first songs I played live, and hearing the audience sing it back to me was such a cherished moment.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
“Eclipse” took a long time to write because I kept revising the lyrics and chorus melody until both felt the most resonant! It was the inaugural song that I felt had the potential to embody the sound I wanted to adopt moving forward, such that I spent a great deal of time ensuring it reached that potential!
Your most emotional track:
Of my released songs, I think the most emotional would be “Interstellar,” because it’s very passionate and explores a variety of different, complex emotions, from love to sadness, to anger, to disappointment. It’s a breakup song and showcases the emotional aftermath of heartbreak.
Dream collaboration:
I feel as though I’ve already collaborated with such esteemed musicians, producers, and artists that I once dreamed of working with! From Dominique Messier and Kaven Girouard to Mikal Blue, Bret “Epic” Mazur, and Laurence Juber, and everyone in between, I have been blessed to create music alongside and learn from such talented people. In addition to them, I would love to co-write with Amy Allen, who has crafted some of the most resonant music in modern time, experience the production magic of Dan Nigro, whose repertoire speaks for itself, and work in any capacity with the likes of Stevie Nicks and Taylor Swift, who inspire me to be the best, most impactful artist I can be each and every day.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Home is where the heart is, and outside of being with those I’m fortunate enough to love, being on stage has always given me that same ineffable feeling.
The hardest track to play live:
Without a shadow of a doubt, “Interstellar” is also the most difficult track to play live… It is a very vocally demanding song, so I pray for the best whenever I sing it!
Essential Items you always take on tour with you?
I haven’t toured yet, but I can already envision some essential items I would take on the road with me. Surprisingly, they wouldn’t be material items at all but rather my family! They are my most ardent supporters and my favorite people. Their unwavering love and encouragement fuel my passion for music and keep me grounded. Having them by my side would make every moment of the journey even more special. From the excitement of stepping onto new stages to the simple joys of exploring new places, I would be adamant about taking them along for the musical ride!
Describe your fans in three words:
In three words, I would describe my fans as loving, generous, and compassionate. Watching how they interact with me and with one another on social media is truly heartwarming. They create a community characterized by effusive kindness and warmth, and I am profoundly grateful for each and every one of them.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Gosh, this is an extensive list! “Yesterday” by The Beatles, “All Too Well” and “Illicit Affairs” by Taylor Swift, “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks, “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell, “Defying Gravity” by Stephen Schwartz, “On My Own” by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan are songs that immediately come to mind, in evidently, no specific order!
What we can look forward to from you this year:
I have so many projects that I can’t wait to share with you all! New music is on the horizon, and I’m thrilled to be releasing songs that I’ve poured my heart and soul into. My first live shows are coming up, and I’m eagerly anticipating the chance to connect with fans in person and experience the magic of live performances together.
I am deeply appreciative that I get to create music every day and consider this my career. It’s a dream come true, and I feel incredibly fortunate for the support that allows me to pursue this path. As I embrace the rest of the year with open arms and an open heart, I look forward to sharing these new experiences with all of you.
