Tell us about:
Your latest project you have released:
My new EP is titled everything’s still and it’s such an important project to me. It follows the story of a breakup I went through. It’s me finding peace again after the breakup in the best way I know how – through music. Listen along and if you relate, I hope you find some comfort in it. I wrote these on my own and brought them to my close friend and producer, Sam Merkin. I wanted to create a bundle of songs to capture that time in my life. He really saw my vision and brought it to life.
Your favourite lyric:
Oooh… that’s hard. I think something cool is in the opening “stranger” there’s a line “you put on your play” and in the closing song “a song I wrote” there’s a line “I was there when you wanted to make a show.” Both theatrical references pay homage in a sense to my debut EP,the show goes on – the same theme can apply to this project, as well.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an EP track:
I honestly can’t pick! But I think I really like how “a song I wrote” is super specific and storytelling, bringing the listeners along with me. It’s a mic drop moment – it’s me saying, “you might say you don’t think of me anymore, but I know you’re still listening to all my songs.” It’s empowering and sassy.
Your favourite song to play live:
“stranger” is super fun to play live. The build is explosive and lets me rock out a bit.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Honestly, I wrote all 3 of these songs super quickly. Once I’m on a roll, it all falls into place!
Your most emotional track:
“super feeler.”
Dream collaboration:
Dominic Fike. I’m a big Dominic Fike girl. I’d love to see his creative process.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
It’s the best feeling ever. I don’t think I’ve ever gone onto stage without happy tears.
The hardest track to play live:
“carousel habits.” The range is wild!
Describe your fans in three words:
Emotive, fun, and a little dramatic in the best way. Just like me 🙂
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
“Sorry To Me Too” by Julia Michaels. I referenced that song when making my first ever single “best friend.” LOVE!!!
What we can look forward to from you this year?
Hopefully more shows!
