How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
Shadow is a mysterious and enticing name for a show, and it’s vague enough that I can reverse engineer it to be a metaphor for whatever I decide the show will actually be about. Am I the titular Shadow, or is society? Perhaps the Shadow is my mental health, or climate change? I doesn’t matter, as long as I get bums on seats. Bring me your bums!
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
On stage I’m a weird, deadpan stand-up comedian. In this confessional show I will reveal that I am in fact a completely normal man off stage, and in no way as creepy as my act, appearance and personality would suggest. The show explores the dichotomy between my serial-killer-esque stage persona and the completely normal regular ‘lad’ that I am in real life. If you don’t believe me just ask my girlfriend! (Who is real and exists).
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I scrupulously avoid supporting the work of other comedians and I suggest you do the same.
what advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
Throw caution to the wind! What’s the worst that could happen? (You make a modest financial loss, get some poor reviews and fall into a canal).
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
The best thing about performing at the Camden Fringe is that Camden is in London, and London is the city where I live.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Consider becoming a distant descendent of William the Conqueror.
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
Ah, Camden! What is there to say about Camden that hasn’t been said already? I love that it’s one of London’s 32 Boroughs, it’s great that it boasts a population of 218,049 (in 2022), and I can’t get enough of its 8.4 square mile span.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
I like to open my shows with some crowd work so my dream audience member would be Richard Head, an optician (“Nice to see you!”) from Kent (“I beg your pardon, what did you call me?”).
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Dwayne The Rock (Dove) Johnson or something like that. It’s a pun because the common pigeon is a rock dove.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Facebook (@NickEverrittComedy), Instagram (nickeverritt) and Twitter (@NickEverritt).
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
COMEDY AWWWWW YEEEEAAAHHH
