The Travel Book – Travel Through A Photo – Lugano, Switzerland

There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

It is funny to look back at this photograph – when I went travelling around Switzerland in 2014 it was mainly snowing, so when we visited Lugano, it was a pleasant surprise to see somewhere that was really warm and sunny, the only downside was the say that we visited.

We visited Lugano on a day that was a Bank Holiday in the area. This meant that everything was shut and it was completely isolated everywhere, like a ghost town. It was pretty eerie as there was no-one around and it is also weird as I reckon in the summer it would be really busy here. I can understand why it would be popular as the water area and even the town were very pretty.

I like this photograph because it is just all about the water – there is so much blue in this photograph but the shadows create some really interesting visuals. I really like the shadows in the photo and the way that the sun is really bright that it creates these bold dark colours on the hills and on the water.

The more you look at this photo, the more you end up seeing and that is why I really enjoy it.
