This afternoon you are going on a date, not just any date, a special one, with Stuart Laws. Yes that’s right, let Stuart wine and dine you and welcome you into an hour of a relationship. Yes you heard that correctly! He even has candles too, that’s how much he wants to impress you!
This year Stuart brings to the Fringe an entertaining, insightful hour delving into everything from travel to the big five small talk questions to ask someone when you first meet them. It is a quirky stand up approach but it works well and creates a fun environment for both Stuart and the audience.
One of the main topics of the show is about Stuart being told later in life that he has Autism and his experiences of learning this and understanding how it effected last relationships without knowing.
It is a really lovely hour of stand up, it may feel a bit awkward initially but that is a very clever technique of Stuart, I am not sure if it is part of the act or nerves but it amps up the date theme incredibly well.
Halfway through there was a surprise guest appearance by comedian and actor Tom Rossenthal which was good fun, I am not sure if this is going to happen everyday but turn up to a show as it may be someone different!
Overall, it was a really great hour of stand up comedy, the venue makes it feel intimate whilst also bringing the audience and stage more together.
