How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
The show’s title I Can Be Your Guru is a play on self help ‘gurus’ that claim they have all the answers to your failures in life. I do a comedic take on this by being a mystic tarot reading guru who doesn’t have her life in order but is ready to help sort your!
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
Within the hour I mix both standup and story telling with tarot card readings for the crowd. I do 3-4 readings for members of the audience who want it infront of everyone one else. The tarot card readings are genuine as I am a real tarot card reader but I use the tarot card readings to do crowd work and comedy improv. Since the readings are genuine, no show is ever the same.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I am looking forward to seeing Great Divinator with Katie Tranter, and Sezar Alkassab: Work in Progress
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
Go for it! its a a great fringe festival and vibe and the organisers really want performers to succeed. I felt truly supported while doing this festival. Camden Fringe also has a great podcast, performers can listen for tips on how to make the most of out your fringe performance.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
I think being in London and being around local and international artists.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Stay in hostels that have kitchens. Try taking the bus to save money and Tesco meal deals.
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
The comedy scene in Camden. You have comedy in your eye club, and Camden Comedy Club. The music scene and the general vibrancy and energy of the place is unmatched anywhere else in London.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
A comedy producer and or director, failing that, the casting director of Live at the Apollo haha
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Oswald the Pigeon. Its seems like he could play scrabble and appreciate a tesco sandwich.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Comedy
Tarot
