How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?

My show is an autobiographical exploration of what it is like to have your faith and practices questioned at every turn, and how following the official ‘rules’ is not essential to knowing who you are or expressing yourself. so Rules Schmules is a play on many Yiddish terms and How To Be Jew-ISH is a comment on the level to which I practice my faith.

Tells us a little bit about your style of show?

It is a one woman musical storytelling show where I sing and play ten songs I have written and arranged, with storytelling links between them.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Any works in progress as it takes a lot to put on a show that is still in development. I’m a fan of catching new musicals at Fringes as it’s then wonderful to see how they grow.

What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?

Get prepared early, build up a good rapport with your venue managers as soon as possible and have fun!

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?

This is my first Camden Fringe so I don’t know yet, but at the moment it’s the excitement of performing on home turf.

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

Use flyer and poster making companies that give you a discount on your next purchase each time you buy, as you’re bound to need to order more at some point. Try to travel by bus as often as possible. If you’re short on cash during the run and are hungry then let the food vendors in the stables give you free samples until you’re full!

What are your three favourite things about Camden?

The fashion, the food and the atmosphere

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Someone who laughs, cries and sings along in the correct places and who likes to talk about their experience of the show with me in the bar afterwards.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

Dave. He looks like a bit of a geezer.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

Instagram and Facebook – @suziesongwriter

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Giggles, relatability and open mindedness (I know that’s four words but can I get away with it? 🙂 ).
